The industrial automation and robotics sector agrees that it’s not necessary to use AI for everything, but rather to automate the basics.
At a roundtable held at NISE Sevilla 2025, industrial sector experts agreed that artificial intelligence only delivers real value when applied to simple, useful automation, especially in factories and SMEs. Companies such as ABB, Fanuc and Sisteplant argued that AI does not need to be used for everything; instead, industrial processes must first be understood and the basics automated.
They also highlighted that sectors such as logistics, food and automotive are already making rapid progress thanks to collaborative robots, machine vision and digital twins. In addition, they warned about the shortage of specialized talent and the importance of training current workers to adapt to the new automated industry.
